The opportunity

We are looking for a Junior Marketing Designer to join our in-house design team to create impactful and striking consumer-facing campaigns in conjunction with our marketing teams based in the UK and Australia. You will be supporting the design team on essential administration, as well as designing marketing materials for our award-winning titles, from proof covers to print ads and social media assets.

Global bestselling brands include Harry Potter, Sarah J. Maas, Tom Kerridge and Wisden alongside award-winning writers and illustrators such as Chris Riddell, Kamila Shamsie, Madeline Miller, Jessie Burton and George Saunders.

This role reports to the Marketing Designer Manager.

 

The role

You will design a range of print and digital marketing materials, helping to create striking and eye-catching campaigns to drive our books into the hands of readers around the world.

Typical jobs include:

  • Assisting the Marketing Design Manager and design team with design projects and administrative support to ensure the smooth day-today running of the team.
  • Design of print materials, including proof covers, activity packs, point-of-sale items and more
  • Design of digital marketing materials, including social media assets, online advertising banners and animated gifs, sales materials and more
  • Translating previous campaigns into new marketing material
  • Supplying the marketing teams with marketing materials and open files on request

You will learn to interpret a marketing brief, collaborate with marketers and bring your creative ideas to a range of campaigns – from literary fiction to a broad range of non-fiction and children’s books. You will be highly organised, efficient, self-motivated, a good communicator and willing to learn.

 

Knowledge, skills and experience - required

  • A portfolio that demonstrates creative flair, versatility, technical skills
  • Solid understanding of the Mac OS
  • Solid understanding of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign and Photoshop)
  • Experience preparing print-ready assets

 

Knowledge, skills and experience - desirable

  • Experience with Adobe AfterEffects
  • Experience with Adobe Premiere Pro

 

Additional information

This is a full-time, permanent position.

Salary Pay Point: £28,000 per annum

The role is based at our London office (50 Bedford Square, London, WC1B 3DP) on a hybrid working pattern of 2 days office based / 3 days home based (or fully office based if preferred). Allocated office days for this role are Monday and Tuesday.

As an Assistant role, this position is eligible for Bloomsbury’s Rental Deposit Loan Scheme. To assist candidates who want to start and to establish a career in publishing, Bloomsbury offers an interest-free rental deposit to support securing somewhere to live. The rental deposit loan can be up to £3,000 and will be paid back over 2 years.
