The opportunity

This role is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic, proactive and collaborative individual to work within the busy marketing team of a global and award-winning academic publisher.

 

Reporting into the Head of Marketing, Higher Education, in this role you will be primarily marketing higher education textbooks and digital products to university lecturers in UK, Europe and RoW regions. This varied role is responsible for marketing the Politics textbooks, Psychology and Counselling lists. You will also be managing a Marketing Executive with list responsibilities and supporting them as they develop in the role.

 

The role involves creating and delivering marketing plans that result in high quality customer engagement and leads for sales. It requires the full marketing mix but with a particular focus on email campaigns and working closely with our campus sales team and editorial colleagues to achieve marketing objectives and sales goals. As a Senior Marketing Manager, you will also be driving forward wider marketing team projects and helping to improve processes, including the organisation of our internal Adoptions Sales Conference, which happens twice a year.

 

This varied role would suit an experienced Marketing Manager looking for their next step who enjoys thinking strategically and analytically as well as getting stuck in to delivering tactical marketing campaigns that require strong copywriting skills and an eye for detail and design.

 

The role

Key responsibilities:

  • Deliver impactful, measured, and lead generating marketing campaigns to achieve sales targets.
  • Develop creative and strategic annual marketing plans and organise activity effectively for the year ahead.
  • Execute marketing plans, track performance, and monitor sales opportunities to ensure targets are met.
  • Use a range of marketing strategies and tactics to generate awareness of our products with academics and students.
  • Use data and analytics to inform marketing strategy, reporting information back to key stakeholders.
  • Articulate product knowledge, market positioning and opportunities to the sales teams through the delivery of presentations at sales conferences and the creation of accurate sales materials.
  • Bring market and competitor insight back to the business to influence commissioning, product development and design, and sales opportunities.
  • Lead broader marketing team projects and contribute ideas to the improvement of marketing processes
  • Manage a Marketing Executive, helping them to develop their marketing skills and market their own lists effectively

Knowledge, skills and experience 

 Essential:

  • Previous experience as a Marketing Manager
  • Significant experience in delivering successful marketing campaigns utilising the full marketing mix
  • Demonstrable copywriting skills and an eye for detail and accuracy
  • Creative and strategic
  • Commercial awareness and strong analytical skills

 Desirable:

  • Experience of line management
  • Experience of supporting a sales team and delivering presentations or product training
  • Familiarity with CRM and email marketing systems
  • Experience of working in publishing or higher education

The role is based at our London office 50 Bedford Square, London, WC1B 3DP on a hybrid working pattern of 2 days office based / 3 days home based (or fully office based if preferred).  Allocated office days for this role are: Wednesdays and Thursdays
