This is a Permanent, Full Time vacancy that will close in {x} days at {xx:xx} BST.

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Data Analyst to join Digital Resources division. The aim is to boost overall sales of our digital product portfolio and the productivity of cross-functional teams, through the supply of reliable data. You will be joining a dynamic, growing and friendly team, who are re-imagining Bloomsbury’s academic publishing for a digital environment.

Bloomsbury Digital Resources sits within the wider Bloomsbury Academic and Professional Division.

Bloomsbury is a key player in scholarly publishing and winner of The Bookseller’s Academic, Educational & Professional Publisher of the Year Award 2021. The Academic & Professional Division is growing and recently acquired Rowman & Littlefield, ABC-Clio, Red Globe Press (from Macmillan Education Ltd), Zed Books and Oberon.

This full-time role is only expected to be in the office 2 days per week (Wednesdays and Thursdays) and we offer a core hours policy of 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, with flexible Fridays throughout the year. Key Responsibilities

Sales reporting and analysis

  • Collect sales data and evaluate performance based on KPIs, supporting BDR’s MD and the broader editorial and sales teams with requirements
  • Help with providing benchmarking for editorial teams that is evidence-based and data-driven
  • Prepare gap analyses by product that identify target institutions
  • Ensure that there is compliance around data integrity, for example around subject codes
  • Report and track the growth of global customer base by type and region, tracking success against predetermined benchmarks
  • Provide regular, standardised sales reporting on individual products/platforms for Product teams and content partners (where required).
  • Guide sales team in entering accurate opportunities forecasts in Salesforce and generate reports showing variance against SF opportunities
  • Assist in creation of reports for Salesforce clean-up projects
  • Run and distribute sales reports for use in meetings as required
  • Liaise with sales team to ensure SF opportunities are correctly annotated (e.g. new business instead of renewal)
  • Support Account Managers with the provision of COUNTER usage reports for customers, as required.
  • Work with IT as appropriate to further improve Salesforce automation and create reporting efficiencies, as appropriate (for example, Tableau)
  • Work with broader team on lead generation, including through use of AI technologies
  • Support BDR sales team by acting as a check on data that the team are sending to accounts, for example pricing updates
  • Cognos sales reporting as required

Usage reporting and analysis

  • Work with Product Innovation team to improve usage reporting / analysis that tracks all subscriber usage by product on a quarterly basis, actively identifies “at risk” accounts
  • Prepare monthly usage reports for key clients
  • Supply usage data relating to existing products and product portfolios, including for new product proposals
  • Working with IT Team on setting up usage dashboards in Data Studio

Operations support

  • Work with sales and marketing teams to help develop methodology for tracking campaign activity including sales against target (value and units) and new trials
  • Providing training and support for any new usage systems
  • Look for a way to improve usage reports including learning new systems 

Skills and experience

Essential

  • Highly numerate with strong data manipulation and reporting; highly proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Flexible approach with ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines, responding swiftly to different demands from the business and prioritising work load.
  • Excellent understanding of systems and how to manage them to facilitate workflows.
  • Ability to understand commercial goals for products and people skills to help the broader team to achieve these.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral, with ability to communicate at all levels
  • High standard of work with attention to detail
  • Ability and desire to understand and improve processes
  • Self-starter, organised and a good problem-solver, able to eliminate obstacles through creative and adaptive approaches
  • Team player

Desirable

  • Salesforce and Tableau experience or desire to learn
  • Familiarity with SQL
  • An interest in the development of digital technologies for the publishing industry
  • Experience with Google Analytics and/or other website usage analytics packages
  • Understanding or experience with Accounting a plus

The role is a full-time, permanent position

Salary Pay Range: £37,500-£42,500 per annum depending on skills and experience

The role is based at our London office 50 Bedford Square, London, WC1B 3DP on a hybrid working pattern of 2 days office based / 3 days home based (or fully office based if preferred).  Allocated office days for this role are: Wednesdays and Thursdays.
